Patronage as problem solving

I go back to Daring Fireball back in the day, and say: 'Hey, the guy who invented feed ads was John [Gruber].'And there's a bit where, modern creators...I've always made the case that it's all ones and zeroes at the end of the day, right? So you should be able to do writing or podcasts or videos or all of those different things. It's just different ways to manifest your takes.
But if you think about it, monetisation is just ones and zeroes too. And there's an aspect of figuring out how to make money while doing this that is just part and parcel of what it means to be on the internet today.
