Volition, Inspiration, Amusement - In That Order
Ben Thompson on apps, agents and aggregation:
What is happening with agents is that the ability to do stuff is becoming abundant; what is scarce is volition. The problem to be solved is not discovery, but rather inspiration; the companies who solve inspiration will gain power over every entity that has things that need to be done.
Doing is abundant. Wanting is scarce.
That points towards anticipatory amusements. Personalised playthings that match your mood, your context and your spare minutes.
But when the agent can make anything, what it makes is disposable.
The scarce thing is not the output. It's the sandbox it emerges from.
Volition is people.
Inspiration is ideas.
Doing is machines.
